SOUTH SALEM, NY — Yet another new chance for renters to combat the ongoing affordable housing crisis is here for a lucky few.

Westchester Residential Opportunities announced that an affordable, one-bedroom, accessory apartment is available within an owner-occupied home on Spruce Road, in the hamlet of South Salem, located in the Town of Lewisboro.

The 440-square-foot unit was constructed around 1980, and comes with a designated driveway parking space for the tenant. The $1759 monthly rent includes hot water, while the tenant will be responsible for electricity.

The apartment can be accessed via one flight of exterior stairs and one flight of interior stairs. While the apartment does not include a washer or dryer, a laundromat is available 10 minutes away in Ridgefield, Connecticut. As there is no public transportation in the area, the tenant must have a reliable vehicle.

The affordable apartment will be available to those earning less than 60 percent of the area average monthly household income: $71,250 for a one-person household, $81,400 for a two-person household, and $91,600 for a three-person household.

Applicants should have a minimum household income of $47,490, have a minimum credit score of 650, and will be subject to a criminal background check.

The property is located close to both the Cross River and Katonah Metro-North stations. It is also near several major routes, including NY Route 35, NY Route 121, and U.S. Route 7. Shopping, dining, and other more can be found in nearby Ridgefield, Connecticut.

The deadline for applications is November 19, 2026. Applications received after the deadline will be waitlisted. Sending more than one application may disqualify you.
