Astorino Leaning Toward Run for 3rd Term as County Executive

He may also take another crack at the governor's office.

Republican Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino says he expects to seek a third term as the county’s top official, and he may also run again for governor, according to News 12 Westchester and The Journal News.

Astorino’s current term ends in 2017, which is when he would seek re-election, and the following year would be the governor’s race. In 2013, Astorino defeated New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson for the County Executive seat, and the following year he lost to incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“At this point, that’s what I expect to do. I expect to run in 2017,” Astorino told WGDJ radio in Albany, as reported by The Journal News. “It seems like a long distance away, but it’s really not.”
