Atlantic Westchester Receives Award at Westchester Green Business Challenge's Six Annual Recognition Event

Atlantic Westchester, located in Bedford Hills, NY, recently received the "Outstanding Achievement in Transportation Award"

Atlantic Westchester, a commercial and industrial HVAC company located in Bedford Hills, NY, recently received the “Outstanding Achievement in Transportation Award” at Westchester Green Business Challenge’s Sixth Annual Recognition Event and Awards Ceremony.

All of the honorees have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability efforts within their business. Atlantic Westchester implemented several transportation sustainability initiatives, like: purchasing energy efficient company vehicles, encouraging employees to carpool and walk to local vendors and businesses whenever possible, using Metro-North for transportation to and from NYC and much more.

“We try hard to car pool or use public transportation whenever possible,” said Atlantic Westchester’s President, Bud Hammer. “When commuting to and around the City, our technicians meet at central locations and take trips in our efficient Prius. We have been replacing company work vans and cars with newer efficient models and the technicians are trained and monitored to drive the speed limit, maintain tire pressure and keep vehicles properly maintained. Our changes in this area of transportation are measured and recorded which shows our efforts are paying off.”

Atlantic Westchester officially became Westchester Green Business-Certified in December 2015. The certification is the region’s only green business certification program for Westchester-based organizations ready to take their sustainability efforts to the next level. Members receive enhanced tools to measure their performance, unique opportunities for peer collaboration, hands-on support from WGBC program staff and a higher level of recognition as leaders within their industries.
