Bedford Closes Schools

District officials are opening Fox Lane High School from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for residents without power who can travel.

BEDFORD, NY — Bedford school district officials have closed schools in the district for Friday. Here is their message to the community:

The Bedford Central School District is closed today, Friday, 3/9. All after-school and evening activities are canceled. Please check with your coach or advisor, and monitor the website for the status of any weekend activities.
With more than 30 of our 85 bus routes unable to pick up students, and many road closures and hazards, i.e. downed trees and power lines, it is not safe to place our students on bus stops and buses. Town officials have stated that their work will be much more efficient in clearing the roads for everyone without our buses out on the roads
We anticipate the situation to be dramatically improved for Monday, and to run a normal day, assuming we don’t have another storm.
***For anyone still without power who can travel, we are opening Fox Lane High School from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for residents to enjoy some warmth, charging of phones and other electronics, restroom facilities, refrigerators for anyone who needs to keep medicine cold, or just to take a respite.
Our commons area is a great place to relax.
Have a nice weekend and be safe.
Best Regards and In Service,
Dr. M.
P.S. Unofficially, this means that schools will be open for all the Friday of Spring Break, April 6th. As of now, PRES, BHES, and WPES also will have school on Thursday, April 5th. I have to double- and triple-check our counts before officially sending a letter out on this.
