Bedford Hills Student Spend Spring Break Helping Rebuild New Orleans

Twelve students from the College of Saint Rose made the trip to volunteer.

BEDFORD, NY - A Bedford Hills college student is spending her spring break in New Orleans.

Carlie Grave, a student at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, isn’t in the Louisiana city to party.

She and 11 other Saint Rose students are volunteering in the Lower Ninth Ward, one of the hardest-hit parts of New Orleans during hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The students are working with lowernine.org, helping homeowners rehabilitate and build homes in what remains a devastated neighborhood.

Grave is a sophomore majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

She will be back at class at Saint Rose March 14.
