Missing Bedford Man Found Wednesday: UPDATE

Vasile was transported to the Northern Westchester Hospital Center. ​

BEDFORD, NY — Bedford police said the man reported missing Monday was found. After a third formal search was conducted, John A. Vasile, 68, was located around 11:15 a.m.

Police said he was conscious and alert in the Bedford Village hamlet. Vasile was transported to the Northern Westchester Hospital Center.


BEDFORD, NY — Bedford police have issued a missing person notification for a Bedford man. John A. Vasile, 68, was reported missing from his Cartway Lane West residence at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13.

Police believe he is traveling on foot from that location.

Vasile is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds.

He is medium skinned, balding with a salt and pepper beard and green eyes.

Vasile was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and gray slippers.

Police said he has extremely poor vision and has trouble walking alone.

Searches were conducted though 2 a.m. Monday night and resumed at 8 a.m. Tuesday. K9 units, boats and a Westchester County Police Department helicopter have assisted so far in this search.

He is being treated for anxiety issues and does not have his medication with him.

The New York State Police are assisting with the search for Vasile, Bedford police said.
