Bedford Parent Charged With Allowing Underage Drinking: Police

Police said a 17-year-old who was highly intoxicated was found at the party.

BEDFORD, NY — Bedford police accused a Bedford parent of hosting a party where underage drinking was taking place. Around 10:50 p.m. March 23, police received a complaint of a possible underage drinking party on Cartway Lane East in the Village of Bedford.

Officers responded and said they found numerous young people under the age of 21 who were drinking at the residence.

A 17-year-old who was highly intoxicated was also found, police said.

An ambulance from the Bedford Fire Department was called to the scene to treat the teen, but he refused medical attention and was released to a parent.

Police said the parent of the 17-year-old host of the party was present and was aware that there was underage drinking.

Meredith T. Abt, 48, was issued an appearance ticket for violating Westchester County Social Host Law, by allowing persons under 21 to consume alcohol at her residence, police said

She is due in Bedford Justice Court April 8 to answer the charge.
