Bedford To Require Large Retailers Charge For Paper, Plastic Bags

Only retailers with 5,000 square feet or more will be affected.

BEDFORD, NY — Better start getting used to carrying reusable shopping bags in Bedford. The town board approved an ordinance requiring shoppers at large Bedford retailers to pay 10 cents for every plastic or paper bag they use.

The law goes into effect in April 2019, tapinto.net said.

Only retailers with 5,000 square feet or more will be affected.
