Bedford School District Updates Emergency Management Plan

The Board of Education will hold a hearing on it Aug. 23.

BEDFORD, NY — The Bedford Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the district's updated safety and emergency management plan on a morning in late August.

District officials added "cyber security" to the list of emergency situations for which procedures are established and training is given.

The plan also adds an introductory paragraph to its protocol for a state disaster emergency declaration involving a communicable disease:

The following procedures provide a general overview of the District's response to a State Disaster Emergency and may require modification during an actual event based on a number of factors. The District will follow current guidance from the County Department of Health, State Department of Health and the State Education Department related to masking, distancing, quarantines, and other health-related requirements.

The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. at Fox Lane Middle School. The trustees are expected to adopt the plan after the hearing.
