Town Supervisor To Seek 93rd NY Assembly Seat
The 93rd District includes Harrison, White Plains, North Castle, New Castle, Mount Kisco, Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, North Salem and Bedford.

BEDFORD, NY — The repercussions from Congresswoman Nita Lowey's decision to retire continue to ripple outward. On Wednesday, Bedford town Supervisor Christopher Burdick announced a run for the New York State Assembly.
The 93rd District includes Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge and parts of New Castle, North Castle, Harrison and White Plains. That seat in the Assembly is currently held by David Buchwald, who is running to replace Lowey in the 17th New York Congressional District.
"I consider the representation that we have in the state Assembly extremely important," Burdick told Patch. "I offer the experience, the successes, the understanding of the legislative process, as well as the challenges that face the municipalities in the 93rd district."

On his website, he listed essential issues on which the district's residents need to be heard in Albany, including property taxes, state funding for critical water and sewer projects, the climate crisis, local school funding, common-sense gun control, affordable housing for local seniors, workers and young families, reproductive health rights and the opioid crisis.
"These are not small issues nor are they easy," he wrote, "But I have a strong and solid record of taking on problems and issues that many people felt were unsolvable and delivering real solutions that work.

He said he and all the town and village officials across central and northern Westchester have been working collaboratively to develop solutions that work locally.
"All the municipalities have shared concerns, whether it's our failing infrastructure or affordable housing," he said. "Or take the climate crisis. Locally, flooding has become a bigger problem, and we have to work locally and regionally on it."
Burdick said he was delighted by the folks joining him at the Bedford Hills train station for the kick-off Wednesday morning, including New York State Sen. Peter Harckham, Mount Kisco Mayor Gina Picinich, Lewisboro Supervisor Peter Parsons, Pound Ridge Supervisor Kevin Hansan, and Bedford town Councilwoman MaryAnn Carr.
