Bedford Using License-Plate Reader Technology to Monitor Parking Rules
The new technology can also identify scofflaw vehicles.

BEDFORD, NY — Automatic license-plate readers have replaced the chalking of tires as a way to monitor parking overtime in Bedford.
According to a post on the Town of Bedford Police Department website, the new technology is now in use in the town and vehicles are monitored using state-of-the-art GPS technology that alerts parking enforcement officers to cars in violation of overtime parking restrictions.
Additionally, the the new technology identifies scofflaw vehicles, the police department said.
