Bedford Voters Say 'No' To New Firehouse

The current building does not comply with federal accessibility requirements.

BEDFORD, NY — A $17.5 million bond for a new firehouse was rejected by voters in Bedford Tuesday. The current building, which was constructed in 1929, does not comply with federal accessibility requirements.

The vote was 651 to 619 against the bond, the Journal News said.

The proposal was to build a firehouse twice the current size.
