Bird Banding

Bird identification and study

Saturday, June 18th at 8 am - 10:00 am

A unique learning activity that Westmoreland Sanctuary offers is our bird banding program. Participate as we use mist nets and other techniques to safely capture wild birds. Then assist staff as we identify each bird, record its age and sex, and then carefully place a numbered band on the bird before it is released. We will be catching and banding birds to collect data for out bird monitoring program as well. Stay for as much or as little of the program time as you would like. We will be catching and banding for the full 2 hours.

This program is canceled in the event of rain.
$5 per person for non-members and free for members.

All proceeds go toward our wildlife monitoring conservation programs. Consider making an additional donation today to aid in our efforts. Proceeds help fund game cameras which are vital to monitoring wildlife, turtle nest predator protection enclosures, native plant protection enclosures and more. Donate Today!
