Brush Fire Risk Thursday In Parts Of Hudson Valley

Dry conditions and low humidity, combined with wind gusts, are the cause.

An enhanced risk of brush fires is possible in parts of the Hudson Valley Thursday. The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

The NWS said the combination of dry conditions over the last 10 days, minimum relative humidity values falling to 25 to 35 percent and frequent gusts of 25 to 30 mph will result in an elevated threat of brush fire spread across the area Thursday afternoon.

The forecast for the region calls for sunny skies Thursday with a high near 80. Winds will be out of the west at 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
