Budget Woes for Bedford Schools Could Call for Teacher Cuts
The proposed tax-rate increase would require overriding the tax cap.

Schools in the Bedford school district will likely have to do more with less, if the 2016-17 budget is approved as proposed.
The spending plan called for an increase in taxes and cutting more than 20 staff positions, including teachers, according to an article at lohud.com.
Interim Superintendent John Chambers said the property tax-rate increase—at 3.8 percent—will necessitate overriding the state-imposed tax cap by the board of education and the public.
