Candidates Debate in the Race for 89th Assembly Seat
Public forum provides residents with opportunity to ask candidates important questions.
Candidates running for New York's 89th Assembly seat went head to head on Tuesday evening in a debate held at the Chappaqua Library. The 89th Assembly District currently serves Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, Pound Ridge and White Plains.
Incumbent Assemblyman Robert Castelli (Republican) and challenger Thomas Roach (Democrat) expressed their views on a range of topics from local education to government corruption.
The debate was organized by the League of Women Voters of New Castle to provide an outlet for the community and the candidates to convene together. Rather than questions being asked through a moderator, citizens were invited to raise their concerns in the public forum on such topics as: the Metropolitan Transportation Tax, Medicaid and their views on Albany.
