Caramoor Kicks off Summer Festival with Something New

New to the Katonah music and arts center, that is: a musical!

Playbill.com highlighted the kick-off of Caramoor's 68th Summer Festival in its June 24 online edition.

The festival did a "semi-staged" version of the musical She Loves Me on June 22 and 23. It was the first-ever time Caramoor has done a musical, according to the website of the Katonah music and arts center.

It's the 50th anniversary of the musical, which is an adaptation of the play Parfumerie by Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo, Playbill said.

The musical was actually the third adaptation of the story, of two store clerks who don't realize that their secret romantic penpals are actually each other. A fourth adaptation, of course, is the movie You've Got Mail.

Caramoor's Summer Festival continues through Aug. 4. Click here for the full festival chronology.
