Series Artistic Director Mary Jane Newman stated her gratitude towards Mr. Brown, who she called a good friend, for his willingness to travel to northern Westchester to support great music. In explaining why she feels the afternoon will be a special one, she stated, “here is a group that stays close to its classical roots while delivering a jazz performance not easily forgotten!”

Now entering its exciting fourth season, The Sanctuary Series presents recitals by extraordinary pianists in the pastoral setting of northern Westchester’s historic South Salem hamlet in the Sanctuary of the South Salem Presbyterian Church. The season begins on November 20th and includes seven performances on Sunday afternoons through May 14, 2017. All concerts begin at 4 PM and are followed by an artist reception with wine and cheese.

The 2016-2017 Season marks the return of virtuoso pianist Jeffrey Biegel, whose technique and artistry according to Mrs. Newman, impressed the audience at his first Sanctuary appearance two years ago. She also noted that her husband, keyboardist and Bach interpreter, Anthony Newman, will be giving a delightful holiday concert with the acclaimed New York Brass Ensemble. This event will showcase both the Series’ Yamaha concert grand piano and the Sanctuary's Russell & Company pipe organ. The season concludes with a special Mother's Day performance by Croatian born, Westport resident Dalia Lazar, featuring an all-Beethoven program and a Champagne toast for all mothers who join us that day. Mrs. Newman added that the other four concerts feature a truly world-class group of young pianists whom we are fortunate to have visiting the Sanctuary.

The cost for the October 30th private recital is $65 ($120 per couple). A sponsorship that includes two tickets is $250. To reserve a seat, call (914) 763 5402, or email info@thesanctuaryseries.org . Tickets for the event may also be purchased at www.thesanctuaryseries.org.
