Colorful Pride Month Is In Store For The Bedford Area This Year

An inaugural color run will get things off to a fast and brilliant start, but celebrations continue long after the tinted dust settles.

BEDFORD, NY — The Town of Bedford, the Idea Committee of Bedford, Lewisboro Celebrates Pride and the Pound Ridge Human Rights Commission have many exciting events planned to commemorate Pride Month this June.

On Saturday, June 4, the first Pound Ridge Color Run for Pride Month will be held at Pound Ridge Elementary School at 9 a.m. Registration information is available here.

Also on Saturday, June 4, at 11 a.m., the Town of Bedford will celebrate Pride Month with the town's third annual Progressive Pride Flag Raising. David Diamond, a PrideWorks board member, will speak at the event, which will take place at the Bedford Town House located at 321 Bedford Rd.

On Friday, June 10, at 6 p.m., "Pieces of Us" will be screened at the Bedford Playhouse, located at 633 old Post Rd., to help commemorate and celebrate Pride 2022. Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil, the first openly gay prince in the world, will join the pre-reception and the Q & A after the film.

On Saturday, June 11, there will be a Family Flag Dance at the Lewisboro Town Park, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prince Gohil and Mykel Dicus will teach and display a flag-dancing art form they call "Broadway to Bombay." People of all ages are welcome to join in. There will then be a dance party for everyone.


On Wednesday, June 22, there will be an LGBTQ+ Policy & Advocacy event at Bedford Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, June 26, Pride in the Park will take place at Onatru Farm Park, located at 99 Elmwood Rd. in South Salem, from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. At 2 p.m., there will be a Drag Queen Story Hour, followed by a Pet Pride Parade at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., there will be a Drag Queens & Flag Ceremony. Between 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., there will be food trucks, a community fair and other fun events. The event will end with a 6 p.m. "Queer-Larious" comedy showcase.
