Columbus Day 2018: What's Open And Closed?
The holiday is celebrated on the second Monday of October.
Monday, Oct. 8 is Columbus Day, a national holiday for many local businesses. The holiday is held on the second Monday of the month.
Federal, state and local government offices will be closed, as will the United States Post Office. There will be no mail delivery.
The Bee-Line buses and Metro-North Railroad will be operating on a weekday schedule. In Rockland County, TOR and TZx buses also will operate regular weekday service.

There will likely be no garbage collection on Monday. Check with your local municipality.
Most libraries will be closed Monday, so check with your local library to be sure.

Public schools and offices will be closed Monday.
Most stores will be open, but give them a call or look online to make sure they aren't closed.
