Team Lewisboro Independence Voter Event

Team Lewisboro, the campaign committee led by Lewisboro Supervisor Charlie Duffy, is hosting an informal reception for Independence Party voters at the Horse & Hound Inn this Sunday, July 17, from 5 to 7 PM.

Mr. Duffy, who is hoping to become the first supervisor in Lewisboro to be re-elected in a decade, received the Independence Party nomination when he first ran two years ago, but, as has been the case recently for many of the Party's previously nominated candidates, he did not receive it this year, leaving a primary election as the only option for appearing on the line.

Acknowledging that he was disappointed not to receive the nomination, Mr. Duffy noted that it was "a down-county decision having nothing to do with the best interests of the Town of Lewisboro."

As to taking on the difficult challenge of a "write-in" primary, which is required when non-enrolled candidates run without the consent of a party's leadership, Mr. Duffy said it was something Team Lewisboro felt very strongly was worth pursing.

"Our team represents three political parties with a shared common desire to continue to work to stabilize the Town's finances without resorting to the deficit spending or large tax increases of the past, to protect our environment, to provide high-quality recreation opportunities to families and to meet the needs of taxpayers of all ages," Mr. Duffy said. "I believe that our nonpartisan approach to local government is in-line with the philosophy of Lewisboro's Independence Party voters, and ultimately they should have the option of deciding on their candidates for November, not the County leadership," he added.
