Final Mianus River Gorge Invasive Species Battle of 2015: Mile-a-Minute Weed Pull
On Saturday, August 15, please join Mianus River Gorge staff and volunteers for a morning pulling an aggressive invasive plant species.

Saturday, August 15
9am- noon
Volunteers meet at Mianus River Gorge parking lot (across from 167 Mianus River Road, Bedford)
Mile-a-minute weed is one of our region’s most aggressive invasive plant species. Please join Mianus River Gorge staff and volunteers to help stop its spread and pull this harmful invasive species from trees and shrubs in the preserve.
Mile-a-minute weed grows extremely fast, out-competing native species in part by blocking available light. Mile-a-minute weed is especially threatening to forest regeneration by out-competing tree seedlings.
With volunteers pulling together, we can have an immediate impact and gain satisfaction in a job well done!
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty—long sleeves and pants will help reduce scratches—and a good pair of gardening/work gloves if you have them. This is a great opportunity for families, scouts, and students on summer break, too. Bring a friend!
