Four John Jay HS Student Athletes Sign College Letters of Intent

A more formal ceremony will be held in the spring.

CROSS RIVER, NY — Four John Jay High School student athletes have signed college letters of intent.

The document is used to indicate a student athlete's commitment to a participating National Collegiate Athletic Association colleges and universities in the United States.

According to a district spokeswoman, the students are Tristen Novak, a lacrosse player, with Merrimack College; Jackson Rieger, a lacrosse player, with Binghamton University; Ray Cotto, a wrestler, with Bucknell University, and Conor Melbourne, a wrestler, with Princeton University.

“This is an outstanding accomplishment and opportunity. The Jay Nation wishes them much success at the next level,” said Christian McCarthy, director of health, physical education, athletics and wellness at John Jay High School.

A more formal ceremony for all athletes will be held in the spring.
