Friends of Music Concerts Presents Pianist Lise de la Salle
Spring season begins with the return of this dynamic French pianist

Described by Bryce Morrison of Gramophone magazine as “a talent in a million,” French pianist Lise de la Salle returns to the Friends of Music Concerts stage on Saturday, April 22, 2017 with a program featuring Liszt transcriptions of works by Schumann and Schubert, Schumann’s Fantasie in C Major, Op. 17, and ten pieces from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliette Suite for Piano, Op. 75.
Brought back following her triumphant Friends of Music debut two years ago, Mlle. de la Salle has established a reputation as one of today’s most exciting artists. Her many recordings have received critical acclaim. Among them, her 2007 CD of works by Mozart and Prokofiev was a Gramophone Magazine Editor’s Choice, while her 2008 recording of the final concertos of Liszt, Prokofiev, and Shostokovich was a Gramophone CD of the Month.
Two concerts remain in the Friends of Music 63rd season. The immensely talented young Dover Quartet will play Beethoven, Britten and Shostakovich on Saturday, May 6. On May 20, Windscape will perform “The Jazz Age,” an out-of-the-box program featuring arrangements of works by Louis Armstrong, Igor Stravinsky, Kurt Weill and George Gershwin, plus works for woodwinds by Hindemith and Villa-Lobos.
