Guard Accused of Raping Bedford Hills Inmate: State Police
The alleged sexual assault at the correctional facility occurred in February of this year.

A Yonkers man, who was employed as a guard at the Bedford Hills Correctional facility, was arrested by state police Thursday in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a female inmate at the jail.
Ruben Garcia, 38, was charged with two counts of Rape 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony.
Though the arrest was this week, the alleged incident occurred in February of this year. A joint investigation was conducted by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Office of Special Investigations, and the New York State Police, concluded that sexual contact allegedly occurred between Garcia and the inmate.

Garcia was arraigned before the Town of Bedford Court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to re-appear in Bedford Court on Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
