Harlem Wizards Face Off Against KLSD Teachers, Principals

The pro basketball team is making a return appearance to benefit the district's athletic programs and students.

CROSS RIVER, NY — The Harlem Wizards take on the Katonah-Lewisboro School District teachers and principals to benefit the district's athletic program and students. The fundraiser will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at John Jay High School. Tickets are $20 and available online at JohnJayBoosters.org.

The Wizards are a world-famous show basketball team that combines tricks and dunks with laughs from seeing teachers have fun on the court, according to a district spokeswoman. Their star-studded, experienced roster includes Jack “Blackjack” Ryan, ESPN 3-Point Shooting Champion and three-time Guinness Record Holder for the longest time spinning a basketball on another basketball; Claude “ToJo” Henderson, an amazing hoopster who earned a purple heart in Vietnam and now gives his heart to the kids; David “DP” Paul, former CUNY and Metro NY College Player of the Year; and Rashaan “Rocket” Barner, 3-time All American, featured on EPSN City Slam and in the LeBron James Nike Ad, and one of the funniest Wizards ever.

John Jay Boosters Club will use the proceeds to support the Katonah-Lewisboro School District's athletic programs and students. In recent years, the Boosters paid for the state-of-the-art fitness center at John Jay High School, and supported construction of the district’s tennis courts and softball dugouts. They also helped pay for scoreboards at the turf and softball fields and sponsor annual athletic scholarships.
