Harvesting Seeds Workshop Sprouts Up At Katonah Village Library
It may be harvest season, but this weekend's workshop is keeping an eye toward sowing and growing, with the right seeds to plant a dream.
KATONAH, NY — You don't need to be born with a green thumb to help cultivate Mother Nature's bounty.
The Katonah Village Library announced that it will be hosting a Living with the Seasons workshop on seed harvesting this Saturday, at 1 p.m.
Leslie Dock, of Leslie Dock Farms & Gardens, will be heading this hands-on workshop where attendees will be able to learn the basics of seed anatomy and development, stratification techniques, and how to harvest each for propagation. A discussion on the importance of planting native species is also planned.

The library says that participants are encouraged to look for all types of seeds everywhere (vegetable, fruit, shrub, tree and flower) and bring them to the workshop for identification, demonstration and sharing.
Everyone will be able to go home with shared seeds. A collection will also become available in the library's Seed Library.
