The Harvey School's Basketball Team Wins Season-Opener

The Cavaliers beat Marvelwood Wednesday.

The following game recap is from The Harvey School:

Harvey got off on the right foot in its season opener Wednesday by defeating Marvelwood 48-35. Playing on their home court, the Cavaliers came out strong in the first half and took a 26-14 lead into halftime, but Marvelwood came out of the gates with a 9-0 run to start the second half, cutting the Harvey lead to 4.

Harvey would regain momentum and maintain the lead behind strong performances by some key returners, including senior Sasha Kantor (11 points), senior Ricky Hicks (10 points) and Eamon Murphy (5 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals). Harvey also got some great play from some promising new players. Junior Michael DePass had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior Rohan Cassells chipped in with 4 points, 7 rebounds and 2 big blocks.

Marvelwood’s Charlie Reznikoff led all scorers with 15 points but he had to leave the game early with a knee injury.

The Cavaliers begin play in the Hackley School’s Dan DiVirgilio Memorial Holiday Tournament today, looking to knock off the host team in the opening round. The tourney ends Saturday with the consolation game at 3 p.m. and the championship game slated for 7 p.m.
