'Have Your Cake And Read It Too': Katonah Library Edible Book Contest

Is it cake or a book? Yes. The rules are simple: bakers will make a cake that represents their favorite work of fiction or nonfiction.

KATONAH, NY — If you have a love of literature and a love of baking, this is your moment.

The Katonah Village Library's "Edible Book" Contest is here.

The rules are simple — each edible creation must depict a fiction or nonfiction book or character. Cakes will be judged by staff and the creativity of the community's cake and book lovers will be open for all to view.

There's still plenty of time to create a few "rough drafts" before submitting the next great American cake novel, but be careful not to reveal any plot twists or secret ingredients ahead of time.

Cakes can be dropped off only on Feb. 3 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Cakes will be judged on Feb. 5 between 10 a.m. - noon. Each food creation must be at least 95 percent edible. The base should be no larger than 18 x 18 inches and must be disposable (preferably cardboard).

The winner will receive a gift card to Consider the Cook in Bedford.
