Heat, Humidity Coming Back; Advisories Issued
The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Get ready for high temperatures. Heat advisories have been issued for the Hudson Valley, taking us out of the pleasant temps with low humidity of the past few days. But don’t worry — the advisory isn’t for today.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Projected heat index values will be between 95 and 104 degrees.

For Columbia, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties, the NWS issued a heat advisory in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. (Get Patch’s daily newsletters and news alerts right in your inbox. Find and “Like” Hudson Valley Patches' Facebook Pages.)
Heat index values will be in the mid-90s to low 100s due to temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s, and dew points in the lower 70s.

The NWS said extreme heat can cause illness and death among at-risk population who cannot stay cool.
The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
