Hollywood Producer Testifies Dead Friend Of Robert Durst Posed As Missing Wife

Robert Durst allegedly murdered Susan Berman because she knew about Kathleen Durst's unsolved disappearance.

SOUTH SALEM, NY — A Hollywood producer, testifying in a pre-trial hearing, said the woman real estate heir Robert Durst stands accused of murdering once pretended to be Durst’s former wife. Lynda Obst, whose producing credits include “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Interstellar” and “Hot in Cleveland,” said Susan Berman told her Durst asked her to call Albert Einstein medical center and pretend to be Kathleen Durst.

According to prosecutors, Robert Durst allegedly murdered Berman in 2000 because she knew about Kathleen Durst’s unsolved disappearance, aol.com said.

Kathleen Durst disappeared in 1982. Her body was never found, but a judge declared her dead officially in March, CBS News said.

The doctor to whom Berman spoke, pretending to be Kathleen Durst, said call came Feb. 1, 1982, which was the day after Kathleen Durst disappeared, the LA Times said.

Kathleen Durst was supposed to begin a pediatrics internship at the medical center, and Berman — as Kathleen Durst — was calling to say she was ill and wouldn’t be showing up as planned.

In February, a long-time friend of New York real estate scion and former Westchester County resident Durst testified Thursday that Durst confessed to a mutual friend that he killed his first wife, Kathie Durst.

Then, Durst, who owned property in South Salem, chillingly confessed to killing that mutual friend because she knew too much, according to the testimony.

Durst’s arrest came several hours before the airing of the last installment of “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,” the six-part HBO documentary, in which Durst was allegedly caught on a hot mic admitting to murder.
