Hudson Valley Town Tops 100 Safest List For 2018
The crime rate among northeastern states was approximately 30 percent less than the national average, the report said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — You want to live where you feel safe; that a top concern when looking for city or town to settle down in. Safewise.com analyzed the most recent FBI crime report and came up with its "100 Safest Cities in America 2018" list.
One Hudson Valley community topped the list — for the third consecutive year — and 13 others were recognized for being safe.
Lewisboro in Westchester County once again was No. 1.

"With no reports of violent crime and only two property crimes, it's not surprising this charming Westchester County [town] tops our 100 Safest Cities in America for the third consecutive year," Safewise.com said.
All told, New York was the leader of the list with 20 communities out of the 100.

New Jersey was represented with 15 communities and Kentucky was third with 10 of the safest communities.
In the Hudson Valley, the following communities made the top 100 list:
- 1. Lewisboro
- 9. Briarcliff Manor
- 16. Croton-on-Hudson
- 53. Harrison
- 55. Rye
- 63. North Castle
- 70. New Castle
- 77. Highlands
- 86. Pleasantville
- 90. Mount Hope
- 92. Carmel
- 93. Walden
- 94. Tuckahoe
- 97. Kent
In analyzing the FBI report, Safewise found the crime rate among northeastern states was roughly 30 percent less than the national average.
So the company said it was fitting that almost half of the cities on the 100 safest cities were in Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts or New York.
