John Jay MS Presents Greek Mythology Comedy

There will be a clock ticking in front of the audience's eyes.

CROSS RIVER, NY — You’ve heard of speed dating. So how about speed Greek Mythology? John Jay Middle School’s Drama Club will perform “The Iliad, the Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less.” Set on a simple stage, with the clock ticking in front of everyone's eyes, the cast speeds through all of Greek mythology — from the love stories of Apollo and Daphne, Zeus and Callisto and Zeus and Lo; and heroic stories of the likes of Perseus, Theseus and Hercules; to cameos of famous characters such Pandora, King Midas and Achilles.

According to a district spokeswoman, the play is funny, updated and made easy to understand. All the silly decisions, the absurd destinies and the goofy characters are presented lightning-bolt fast with hysterical results as the clock is stopped with only seconds to spare.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17 and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Tickets available at the door for $10 each beginning at 6:15 p.m. and noon on Saturday.
