Katonah-Lewisboro Students Bring 'Focus' to Digital News

The online publication is run by students.

KATONAH, NY - There’s a new digital newspaper in Katonah-Lewisboro area and it’s run by high school students.

John Jay High School students, after-school newspaper staff members and journalism class students launched the John Jay Focus.

They rolled out the enterprise after attending a Columbia Scholastic Press Association conference at Columbia University in the fall.

School Librarian Lauren Carrigan said that several of the students were inspired to create an online presence for the student-run newspaper.

“[The students] have worked very hard the last couple of months building the new site, rallying support and recruiting more writers, bloggers and photographers,” Carrigan said.

Teagan Cronin and Alyssa Lofreddo, the publication’s co-editors-in-chief, and head layout editor Jessica Li spearheaded the effort.
