BEDFORD, NY — The League of Women Voters has canceled the virtual candidates forum for the New York State Assembly District 93 race. Both Democratic candidate Chris Burdick and Republican candidate John Nuculovic were invited to participate.

However, only Burdick formally accepted the invitation.

Kathy Meany, president of the League of Women Voters of Westchester said the league strives to run the forums in a respectful, nonpartisan environment that encourages civil discourse.

"During these days when the residents of AD 93 have so few options to hear directly from candidates and to address their own questions to them, we find this development disappointing," she said.

Meany said the league views the forum as if it were a job interview.

"So it is troubling that any candidate would not want to take this opportunity to communicate with the people they are seeking to represent," she said.
