Letter to the Editor: Bedford Councilman Urges Vote for Vander Linden

The election will be held March 15.

Written by Don Scott

Dear Neighbors,

Boards are only as good as the combined skills and experience of their members. The important decision voters will make on March 15th about who joins our Town Board should be based on the qualifications, skills and experience they bring to the job. Luke Vander Linden is the clear choice.

Luke is the only candidate that has previously served on a board — any board — in our town. That would seem at the very least to be a prerequisite to stand for election. All our current board members have extensive resumes of prior service on Town committees. He represents Bedford Hills on our Recreation and Parks advisory board as well as serving on our Communications committee. You should take a minute and view his presentation and report to the Board on website and email metrics at our February 2nd meeting. You can find it at the town’s redesigned web site. Luke led the sub-committee that implemented that redesign.

Professionally, Luke serves as the Membership Director of an association of nearly 20,000 leading academics and scholars. The skills he brings to bear in his job would benefit our town and our board -- communications, internet engagement, digital media, etc. Every campaign talks about improving communications and public engagement. In Luke, we have a candidate who has walked the walk. We would all benefit from having him on our board. If you want to see the quality of his communications skills visit his website at www.LukeForBedford.com.
