Letter to the Editor: Town Board Not Entry-level Job

The election in Bedford will be held March 15.

The Town Board is not an entry-level job. Putting together a $28 million budget, managing different and often conflicting citizen requests, and the planning needed for both broad needs and specific minutiae all require an experienced manager and leader. Furthermore, someone who’s been deeply involved with the town’s many committees and community groups is essential.

It doesn’t matter if they’re an “insider” or an “outsider” – it’s the applicable experience and the accomplishments that count. Of the two candidates, Luke Vander Linden is the one with the type of experience Bedford needs. His dedication and loyalty to Bedford will provide the strength we need.

The Bedford Hills Library, Bedford Hills Lions Club, Parks and Recreation, Communication Advisory Board are only some of the examples of Luke's commitment to our town. With all the organizations Luke serves, it’s a wonder he has any free time at all! Even though he lives in Bedford Hills, I often run into Luke at events in Katonah – most recently Chili Night where he entered his "Frito Pie" to support the Chamber of Commerce.
