HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The state of New York is known for its spirit and its spirits. Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently announced that the Empire State is now home to 400 breweries, eclipsing the previous record — set in 1876 — of 393. And then there are all the vineyards in the Finger Lakes and on Long Island that produce very fine wines.
So where do you enjoy your favorite beverage, whether it’s whiskey, wine or a brew?
The writers of NewYorkUpstate.com took it upon themselves to come up with a list of the most interesting bar in each county around the state.

They admit upfront that their choices may not be the best bars in each county, “but they are certainly worthy of a sip or two,” said contributing writer Chuck D’Imperio.

- Il Cenacolo, Port Jervis, Orange County
- The Carriage House, Mahopac (there's also one in Patterson) Putnam County
- Karma Bar, Nyack, Rockland County
- The Anchor, Kingston, Ulster County
- The Dolphin, Yonkers, Westchester County
