Mount Kisco, Mamaroneck Named Communities 'On the Rise' by NerdWallet

Mount Kisco and Mamaroneck were named the seventh and 14th communities considered “on the rise” in New York, according to a recent survey conducted by the financial website NerdWallet.
To come up with the list of the top 20 in the state, the site’s Kamran Rosen wrote that they analyzed three things, “growth of the working-age population, employment and income from 2009 to 2012.”
For Mount Kisco, the working-age population grew 5.47 percent to 8,863, and 66.6 percent of that population was working, according to NerdWallet. Additionally, median income during the period rose 18.75 percent to $50,342.

Mamaroneck’s working-age population rose 3.29 percent to 14,896 during the period, and 61.8 percent of that population was working, despite a drop of 3.44 percent. Median income, however, rose 21.38 percent to $70,765.
Topping the list was Haverstraw in Rockland County, where working-age population grew 12 percent to 9,126, 60.9 percent were working and median income rose 14.23 percent to $34,688.

“Above all, where New York excelled most was in income growth,” wrote Rosen. “The state, which ranks fourth in per capita income, saw big gains in income between 2009 and 2012.”
