Naked Man At I-684 Rest Area Is Arrested: New York State Police

BEDFORD, NY — A drug-fueled nude romp at a Westchester County rest stop led to the arrest of a Connecticut man, according to police.

The New York State Police say that on Tuesday, at 3:24 p.m., troopers from Somers responded to the Bedford service area on I-684 south, after receiving a report of public lewdness.

Once at the scene, troopers found 56-year-old Virgil J. Naveda, of Darien, Connecticut, naked at the rest area and showing signs of impairment. After standardized field sobriety tests were given, Naveda was taken into custody.

State police say that an impound and inventory search of Naveda's vehicle found approximately 66 grams of gamma-butyrolactone, 49 grams of butanediol, 7 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia items.

Naveda was arrested and charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; three misdemeanor counts of public lewdness; and misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

On Thursday, Naveda was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court, released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to return to court on September 30.
