Orange County Likely Location of New Legoland Park
If the amusement park comes to fruition, it will be the third Lego-themed park in the United States.

Orange County could be the home of the third Legoland amusement park in the United States.
A cluster of properties along Harriman Drive, off exit 125 on Route 17, would be the site of the proposed park, according to the Times Herald-Record.
The paper said that the county has been courting Merlin Entertainments, which owns Legoland, for months.

The project, if it comes to fruition, would encompass more than 300 acres and is likely to be presented to the Goshen Town Board sometime in June, according to lohud.com.
A spokesman for Merlin Entertainments PLC sent Patch a statement that said the company “has an interest in land within the Town of Goshen in Orange County, NY. We would hope to bring an application to the Town Board for the re-zoning of the land in due course, as part of our aspiration to open a third Legoland Park in North America.”

The other two North American parks are located in Carlsbad, CA and Winter Haven, FL, according to information on legoland.com.
Merlin had been in discussions with officials in Haverstraw and Ramapo in Rockland County but significant opposition to proposed deals forced the company to keep looking.
FIOS1News.com said an Orange County source said the park would cost about $300 million to build and will create more than 1,500 jobs.
