Orange County Man Drove Drunk, Was Arrested With Drugs, Daggers: Police

After arraignment, he was sent to jail without the possibility of bail.

BEDFORD, NY — An Orange County man was arrested Oct. 22 on drug and weapon charges after a traffic stop on I-684. State Police said Anthony Mathis, 50, of New Windsor, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies, and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

A report of an erratic vehicle led Troopers to locate a vehicle that was traveling 15 mph over the posted speed limit.

An investigation found that Mathis was driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages, police said.

Additionally, police said they found about 61 grams of oxycodone and four concealed daggers in his possession.

Mathis was arraigned in the Town of North Castle Justice Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail with no bail.

He is scheduled to next appear in the Town of Bedford Justice Court Oct. 25.
