
Turn the heat to high. That’s what Mother Nature has done for the Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service has issued air quality alerts and heat advisories for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties in the mid-Hudson Valley and for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in the lower Hudson Valley.
Air quality alerts are in effect throughout the Hudson Valley until 11 p.m. Sunday.
Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for ozone.

The heat advisories are in effect from 11 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Monday.
The NWS said the heat index values will be around 100 for the lower Hudson Valley and 95 to 100 for at least two consecutive hours in the mid-Hudson Valley.

A combination of hot temperatures and high humidity levels will result in the potential for heat-related illnesses if proper precautions are not taken.
