‘A PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT’ A concert of music and the spoken word tracing the trajectory of the Age of Enlightenment, performed by REBEL Ensemble for Baroque Music on period instruments.
Music by J.S. Bach, J.C. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Buffardin, Storace, Holzbauer, Leclair and Edelman interspersed with readings by Voltaire, Rousseau, Kant, Burke, Herder and Wordsworth, with Paul Hecht, actor/ narrator. The instrumentalists in this program will be: Matthias Maute, flute; Jörg-Michael Schwarz & Karen Marie Marmer, violins; Risa Browder, viola; John Moran, cello; Ben Harms, historical percussion & Dongsok Shin, harpsichord and fortepiano. A fully-catered reception follows the concert, where audience members can mingle with the artists. This concert is part of the Musica Antiqua Nova series, now in its fifteenth year.
