Pope Francis is halfway through the first full day of his visit to Washington, D.C., having completed a visit with waiting students outside the Vatican embassy, a speech in English before about 15,000 gathered on the South Lawn of the White House, a private meeting with President Obama, a parade in the “Popemobile,” and a prayer service with U.S. archbishops at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, where the funeral of President John F. Kennedy was held.
True to his moniker, the “People’s Pope,” the 78-year old stopped for ”selfies,” hugs and kisses with people lining the streets.
