Police Investigating Apparent Suicide At Bedford Hills Prison

BEDFORD, NY — The state police from the Somers barracks and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations conducted a joint investigation into the death of an inmate Wednesday.

Police said the death occurred at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility at 247 Harris Road in the Town of Bedford.

Officials said the initial investigation found that Melanie T. Liverpool, 33, apparently took her own life.

Police said the investigation remains on-going.
