Pot Home Delivery to Start in Westchester County

The medical service will be available in a eight-county area to homebound patients.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — If you use medical marijuana, you might soon be able to get it delivered to your home.

Vireo Health of New York, which has a dispensary in White Plains, announced Wednesday it was approved by the state to start a medical marijuana home delivery service service.

According to information on the company’s website, the program was designed by a team of security experts, pharmacists and physicians and will serve homebound patients with life-threatening ad debilitating diseases, initially in an eight-county zone including Westchester, Long Island and all five New York City Boroughs.

Vireo Health CEO Ari Hoffnung said he was grateful to the state Department of Health and other public health and safety officials for making the program a reality.

“New Yorkers have increasingly come to expect home delivery and we plan on leveraging ‘last mile’ supply chain technologies to meet and exceed patient expectations,” he said.

State regulations do not allow outsourcing in New York’s “seed-to-sale” medical marijuana industry, all deliveries will be handled exclusively by Vireo employees.

The company said the program should be launched within 90 days, with delivery pricing and other details to be released over the coming weeks.
