Richard Gere For Congress In Hudson Valley?
There are several things that would have to happen before he could mount a run.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Could actor Richard Gere be giving the old razzle-dazzle to Congress? The buzz around the Hudson Valley is that the star of “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” “Pretty Woman” and “Chicago” is being talked about to run in the 18th Congressional District if Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-Cold Spring, is successful in his bid in a four-way primary Sept. 13 to become the Democratic candidate for New York attorney general.
Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano said it’s being whispered about, but nobody knows where it started, the Journal News said.
Gere is politically active and is known to be a Democrat.

He lives in Pound Ridge which is in the 18th Congressional District.
Gere already strikes a pose like a politician, according to Ellen Kearns, the assistant secretary of the Westchester County Democratic Party.

She told the New York Post that he comes up to each election inspector on Election Day and thanks them for their work.
Gere has long advocated for Tibetan rights and his views on alleged China human-rights abuses have gotten him banned for life from that country, Vanity Fair said.
