Scam Alert: Text Scam Touts Bedford Police Department Hoodies

BEDFORD, NY — The Town of Bedford Police Department issued a scam alert to the public because of a text that is going around.

In a Facebook post and Nixle alert, the police said to be aware of the latest scam involving the Bedford Police Department.

Text messages are offering police department hoodies at $10 off.

"Bedford Police wants residents to be aware of a scam utilizing the Bedford Police Department's name," police said. "If you receive a text: "Dear (your name) Bedford Police Department hoodie $10 OFF ready to order now" followed by a link DO NOT CLICK ON IT or provide any personal information. This is not the Bedford Police Department sending this out."
