Schumer Endorsed By Dems for Re-election

His likely challenger in November will be Republican Wendy Long.

It shouldn't have come as any surprise but Sen. Chuck Schumer was endorsed for re-election Monday by the New York State Democratic Committee.

According to lohud.com, Gov. Andrew Cuomo called Schumer a “progressive who makes government work.”

The governor gave a list of projects, including the new Tappan Zee Bridge, that might not have come to fruition were it not for Schumer.

Lohud.com said Schumer’s major challenger in November will likely be Wendy Long, a Republican who lost in 2012 to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

Schumer is on track to take over as Democratic leader after Nevada's Harry Reid retires. Schumer has said the state will remain his primary focus if he is promoted, according to the Utica Observer Dispatch.
